Ternary transition metal chalcogenides with framework structures and the characterization of their bonding by magnetic properties

چکیده

An extended Zinti principle is discussed for framework structures of ternary metal chalcogenides, pnictides and hydrides with tetrahedral and planar coordination of transition metal atoms. Their bonding can be characterized by the magnetic moments measured by susceptibilities and neutron diffraction. The experimental results are compared with crystal field splittings obtained by calculations based on the strong field model. This is an attempt to explain the occurence of reduced spin states of transition metal atoms in tetrahedral coordination in terms of a dependence on the framework structure.
